GUEST BOOK

Betty was my 'right arm' for around five years during a time in our lives when we both were 'in our prime.' I will never forget our verbal exchange when we first met upon her arrival at Park National Bank of Newark to become my secretary. After being introduced to one another, I asked, 'What is your husband's name?' Of course, Betty's response was, 'Hi.' I responded to that by saying,'Hello' and repeated the question. It took several attempts to get beyond the greeting stage before I finally understood that her husband's name really was Hi. We laughed about that many times and I have repeated the story to untold numbers of folks I have meet since that day over 35 years ago. I regret that we didn't stay in touch more often in recent years. She continued working for me until 1974 when I left Newark to take a position with a bank in Columbus. She remained at PNB for many additional years as secretary to my successor, Jerry Nethers. Betty was always full of life and dedicated to her job. She was loved by all who knew her. Our deepest sympathy goes out to her daughters, sons-in-law, brothers, grands and great-grands. Paul Shannon Zanesville, OH
